Online Bachelor's in Cybersecurity Programs in Alabama - Cybersecurity Majors

Alabama is currently home to six universities that offer online bachelor’s degree programs in cybersecurity. Four of these schools are public institutions, including Athens State University, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Troy University, and the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Columbia Southern University and Herzing University are the two private schools in the state that offer bachelor’s in cybersecurity programs. Collectively, these schools offer students the option of pursuing dedicated degree programs in cybersecurity, or degrees in related fields, such as information security, with cybersecurity concentrations. Students can also specialize in digital forensics or cybersecurity management.

Herzing University is institutionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The other five universities are institutionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Athens State University, The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and the University of South Alabama also hold official designations from the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. NCAE-C designations signify that schools have aligned their curricula with federal standards set by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in collaboration with the National Security Agency (NSA). Athens State University holds a designation in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), The University of Alabama at Birmingham holds a designation in Cyber Research (CAE-R), and the University of South Alabama holds both CAE-CD and CAE-R designations.
