Online Bachelor's in Cybersecurity Programs in California - Cybersecurity Majors
Updated: October 16, 2026
The state of California is currently home to six universities offering online bachelor’s degree programs in cybersecurity. Two of these universities are public institutions that are part of the California State University (CSU) System: California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM) and San Jose State University (SJSU). The other four are private schools, including California Baptist University, National University, Platt College (Los Angeles), and the University of Massachusetts Global (which is an online institution affiliated with the public University of Massachusetts system whose headquarters is in Aliso Viejo, CA). Collectively, these schools offer six online bachelor’s in cybersecurity programs and students can explore optional concentrations in computer network defense, digital forensics, information technology management, or project management.
All of the universities listed on this page are institutionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), except for Platt College, which is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). CSUSM, National University, and SJSU have also each earned Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designations from the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. NCAE-C designations indicate that schools have aligned their curricula with federal standards set by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in conjunction with the National Security Agency (NSA).

Students should research specific admission requirements for these schools carefully, and are advised to reach out to an admissions advisor if they have any questions before applying.
