Online Bachelor's in Cybersecurity Programs in North Carolina - Cybersecurity Majors

North Carolina is currently home to four colleges and universities that offer online bachelor’s programs in cybersecurity and closely related fields. Two of the schools are public institutions, while the other two are private, nonprofit schools. East Carolina University, located in the city of Greenville, and North Carolina Central University, an HBCU in the city of Durham, are both public schools that are part of the University of North Carolina System. Methodist University, located in Fayetteville, and Montreat College, in Western North Carolina, are the two private schools in the state that offer bachelor’s in cybersecurity programs. Between these four schools, students can pursue degree programs in cybersecurity, cybersecurity and information assurance, and information and cybersecurity technology.
Students should note that the programs offered by East Carolina University and North Carolina Central University are bachelor’s completion programs. This means that both schools require applicants to have already completed at least 24 college credits from an accredited college or university in order to be eligible for admission.
All four of the North Carolina schools listed on this page are institutionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). In addition, East Carolina University, Montreat College, and North Carolina Central University have obtained a Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designation from the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. NCAE-C designations reflect that a school has aligned its program’s curriculum with federal standards developed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which is part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in conjunction with the National Security Agency (NSA).
