Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in Michigan
Updated: October 10, 2025
Michigan has 10 schools that offer a total of 14 online master’s programs in cybersecurity. These include programs specifically in cybersecurity, as well as master’s degrees in fields that offer specializations in cybersecurity, such as computer science, computer engineering, information assurance, information technology, and software engineering. Central Michigan University (CMU), Eastern Michigan University (EMU), Ferris State University (FSU), Michigan State University (MSU), Michigan Technological University (MTU), Oakland University, and University of Michigan-Flint are all public institutions of higher education that offer one of more online master’s degrees in cybersecurity. Meanwhile, Davenport University, University of Detroit Mercy, and Walsh College are private schools that also offer online programs in the field. Across these schools, students can choose to tailor their course of study in areas such as critical infrastructure protection, cyber-physical systems, trustworthy AI, cybersecurity management, cybersecurity analytics, and more.
All 10 schools listed above maintain regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). In addition, eight of these schools have earned optional designations for their cybersecurity programs through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. NCAE-C is a federal initiative that the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which is a division of the Department of Homeland Security, collaboratively oversee. Both public and private institutions of higher education can apply to the NCAE-C program for evaluation of their cybersecurity programs’ curricula and learning outcomes. While numerous schools nationwide have earned NCAE-C designations, they are not required and are not equivalent to institutional accreditation. NCAE-C program designations are included for each school in the listings at the bottom of the page.
