Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in Mississippi

Mississippi has three schools that offer online master’s degree programs in the field of cybersecurity. Mississippi College is a private school based in Clinton that has an online Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity & Information Assurance. Mississippi State University, a public institution in Starkville, offers two online master’s programs in cybersecurity: a MS in Cyber Security and Operations with two concentration options in Cyber Defense and Cyber Operations, and a MS in Computer Science with a Cybersecurity concentration. Finally, The University of Southern Mississippi, a public research university in Hattiesburg, has an online MS in Information Technology and Cybersecurity Management. Through these four programs, students can gain targeted training in cyber defense tactics, information security and assurance principles, and cybersecurity operations leadership.
Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, and The University of Southern Mississippi maintain regional accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). In addition, both Mississippi State University, and The University of Southern Mississippi have earned optional designations for their cybersecurity degrees through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program, an initiative that is supervised by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The NCAE-C program grants designations in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), Cyber Research (CAE-R), and Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) to programs with curricula and learning outcomes that meet federal guidelines. Mississippi State University has received CAE-CD and CAE-CO designations, while The University of Southern Mississippi has earned a CAE-CD designation.
