Updated: October 10, 2025
Nevada has two schools that offer a total of three online master’s in cybersecurity programs. Both schools are public universities within the Nevada System of Higher Education. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) offers two programs in cybersecurity: an online Master of Science in Cybersecurity and an online Master of Science in Management Information Systems that has a Cybersecurity Track. The University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) has an online Master of Science in Cybersecurity. All three programs can be completed entirely online without any required on-campus requirements.
Both UNLV and UNR maintain regional accreditation through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Furthermore, both schools have earned optional designations through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program for their cybersecurity degree programs. NCAE-C is an initiative that the National Security Agency (NSA) established and currently oversees, in collaboration with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The NCAE-C program uses three designations to identify schools whose cybersecurity programs align with federal curricular standards. These designations are Cyber Research (CAE-R), Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), and Cyber Operations (CAE-CO); UNLV and UNR have both received the CAE-CD designation for their programs.
