Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in South Dakota

South Dakota currently has only one school that offers a total of two online master’s programs in cybersecurity and related fields. Dakota State University (DSU) is a public university with several academic options for students who are interested in studying cybersecurity at the master’s level. DSU’s Beacom College of Computer and Cyber Sciences has an online Master of Science in Cyber Defense with two cybersecurity-oriented specializations in Security Management and Compliance, and Technical Cybersecurity. In addition, DSU’s College of Business and Information Systems offers an online Master of Science in Information Systems, also with two cybersecurity-focused specializations: Information Systems Cyber Security, and Network Administration and Security. Both of DSU’s online master’s programs can be completed fully online without any on-campus requirements.
Dakota State University is regionally accredited through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Furthermore, DSU has earned optional designations for its cybersecurity programs through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. The NCAE-C program is managed by the National Security Agency (NSA) along with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and it designates programs with curricular content that aligns with federal cybersecurity guidelines. At present, Dakota State University has earned the Cyber Research (CAE-R) and Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designations for its online master’s programs in cybersecurity.
