Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in the District of Columbia

The District of Columbia has four schools that offer a total of five online master’s programs in cybersecurity. Georgetown University, National Defense University, The George Washington University, and University of the Potomac all have online options for students who are interested in gaining graduate-level, industry-focused training in cybersecurity. These include master’s programs specifically in cybersecurity, as well as programs in information technology management, engineering, and strategic information. Georgetown University, The George Washington University, and University of the Potomac are all private universities, while National Defense University is a federally-funded university and Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) institution. JPME programs give members of the United States military educational opportunities that prepare them for strategic leadership roles in government agencies and related environments.
All four schools listed above have received regional accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). In addition, the online master’s programs in cybersecurity at Georgetown University, The George Washington University, and National Defense University have earned designations through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. NCAE-C is a federal initiative run by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The NCAE-C program offers optional designations in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), Cyber Research (CAE-R), and Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) to undergraduate and graduate programs in cybersecurity that meet federal standards for curricula and learning outcomes.
