Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in Maryland

Maryland is home to 12 schools that offer, in total, 32 online master’s programs for students who are interested in graduate-level training in cybersecurity and related fields. Seven of the schools are public institutions: Bowie State University, Morgan State University, The University of Baltimore, Towson University, the University of Maryland (College Park), the University of Maryland Global Campus, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. All of these institutions except for Morgan State University are part of the University System of Maryland. Morgan State University is an independent, public Historically Black College and University (HBCU). The other five universities, Capitol Technology University, Hood College, Johns Hopkins University, SANS Technology Institute, and Stevenson University, are private schools. Students can explore programs in numerous areas including cybersecurity, cyber analytics, cyber artificial intelligence, cyber engineering, cyber operations, cybersecurity management, cyberpsychology, cyber and digital forensics, information assurance, penetration testing, computer science, information technology, and other related degree programs.
All of the 12 schools in Maryland mentioned above have received regional accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). In addition, several of the schools have earned optional designations through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program, which is a federal initiative that the National Security Agency (NSA) jointly runs with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Founded in 1999, NCAE-C provides designations in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), Cyber Operations (CAE-CO), and/or Cyber Research (CAE-R) to colleges and universities that align their curricula and student learning outcomes with standards set by the federal government.
