Nebraska is home to two schools that have online master’s in cybersecurity programs. Bellevue University offers both an online Master of Science in Cybersecurity and an online Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (MS-CIS) with a concentration in Cybersecurity through its College of Science and Technology. The University of Nebraska at Omaha’s College of Information Science and Technology offers an online Master of Science in Cybersecurity with a concentration in Cyber Operations. Bellevue University is a private institution, while the University of Nebraska at Omaha is a public research university that is part of the greater University of Nebraska system. Through the three program options available across these two schools, students can learn about principles and methods of cybersecurity governance, risk assessment and mitigation, intrusion detection, and other core concepts in the field. Bellevue University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha both maintain regional accreditation through the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). In addition, both schools have earned designations from the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. Specifically, Bellevue University’s online MS in Cybersecurity and online MS-CIS with a concentration in Cybersecurity have earned the Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designation, while the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s MS in Cybersecurity has earned both the CAE-CD and the Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) designation. The NCAE-C program is a federal government initiative that is managed by the National Security Agency (NSA), in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). While designations through the NCAE-C program are optional, they signify that schools have aligned their curricula to federal standards for higher education programs in cybersecurity.
