Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in Texas

Texas has numerous options for prospective graduate students interested in online master’s programs in cybersecurity and related fields. There are 11 universities in the state that offer a total of 14 master’s degree programs. These include five public institutions: Angelo State University, Sam Houston State University, Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas State University in San Marcos, and the University of Houston. There are also six private universities: Abilene Christian University, American InterContinental University, Houston Christian University, Our Lady of the Lake University, St. Mary’s University, and the University of Dallas. Students can pursue degrees in information technology, cybercrime investigation, cyber defense, cybersecurity management, digital forensics, information assurance, cybersecurity law and policy, and healthcare information security.
All of the universities in Texas are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), except for American InterContinental University, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Further, several of these institutions have also obtained optional designations in Cyber Research (CAE-R) and/or in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) from the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. The NCAE-C program is a joint initiative of the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that awards designations to schools that follow its curricular guidelines for cybersecurity degree programs. Angelo State University, Our Lady of the Lake University, Sam Houston State University, St. Mary’s University, and the University of Dallas have earned CAE-CD designations. Texas A&M University and the University of Houston hold both CAE-CD and CAE-R designations.
