Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in Oklahoma

Updated: October 10, 2025

Currently there is only one school in Oklahoma that offers a master’s in cybersecurity program that can be completed online. The University of Tulsa is a private research institution whose School of Cyber Studies offers an online Master of Science (M.S.) in Cyber Security program. The university has received Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) and Cyber Research (CAE-R) designations through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program, which is managed by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). The NCAE-C program establishes curricular standards for higher education programs in cybersecurity and validates that institutions meet those standards before they are granted a designation. Prospective students should note that NCAE-C designations are optional for schools, and are not equivalent to regional accreditation. The University of Tulsa is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).

The University of Tulsa’s master’s in cybersecurity program has two tracks that allow students to specialize in either Technical Cybersecurity or Cybersecurity Leadership. The M.S. in Cyber Security requires 30 graduate credit hours and students have the option to complete a master’s thesis track or a non-thesis track. The program can also be completed fully online and utilizes both synchronous and asynchronous instruction. To supplement asynchronous lectures and coursework, the program has live weekly video conferences that students can attend. The program is designed for working professionals and students can earn their degree in as few as 20 months.

Students in the M.S. in Cyber Security program complete courses in cyber security technology management, cyber defense tactics, network security, and applied cryptography and system security. They can then choose from a series of electives that include courses in cybersecurity law and policy, security auditing, penetration testing, information assurance, computer forensics, and more. Depending on the courses they choose, the program is designed to prepare students for professional certifications, including ISC2’s Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential, Offensive Security’s Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP/Pen-200) credential, and CompTIA’s Security+ and PenTest+ certifications.

Additional Master’s in Cybersecurity Programs for Residents of Oklahoma

In addition to the online program offered by The University of Tulsa, students can also explore online programs offered by out-of-state institutions that accept students who reside in Oklahoma. The majority of institutions that offer online programs in cybersecurity accept students from all 50 states, and there are over 230 colleges and universities that offer online master’s programs in cybersecurity and related fields. Students can explore online master’s programs in cybersecurity, cybersecurity management, and computer and digital forensics. They can also research master’s programs in fields such as computer science, information systems, computer engineering, and information technology that have specialization or concentration options in cybersecurity.
