Online Master's in Cybersecurity Degree Programs in New Jersey

New Jersey is home to six schools offering a total of 11 online master’s programs that provide students with graduate training in cybersecurity. New Jersey City University, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Rutgers University, and Thomas Edison State University are public universities that have online master’s in cybersecurity programs. Across these four schools, students can explore areas such as cybersecurity and privacy, information systems, information technology administration and security, cybersecurity and critical infrastructure, information assurance, national security studies, and more. The private academic institutions in New Jersey with online master’s programs in cybersecurity are Fairleigh Dickinson University and the Stevens Institute of Technology. Between these two schools, students can study cyber and homeland security administration, computer engineering, networks and security, information systems, and cybersecurity risk management.
All of the six schools in New Jersey mentioned above maintain regional accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). In addition, five of the schools have earned designations for their cybersecurity programs through the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program. NCAE-C is a federal program that grants designations in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD), Cyber Research (CAE-R), Cyber Operations (CAE-CO) to college-level cybersecurity programs that align with their curricular standards. NCAE-C is jointly managed by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Prospective students should note that NCAE-C designations are optional for colleges and universities, and are not equivalent to regional or institutional accreditation.
